RetrospecTIFF
For the first time, TIFF dedicates a special spotlight to the Video Art category, presenting two unique programs that explore the intersections of art, society, and contemporary expression.
“Obsession” — Fani Zguro’s Video Works (2006–2025)
This solo program by conceptual artist Fani Zguro brings together a collage of his video works created over nearly two decades. Blending elements of video art and experimental cinema, “Obsession” offers an intimate journey through Zguro’s artistic practice. Following the screening, the artist will join a conversation with the audience to discuss the themes, techniques, and creative contexts behind his work — creating a reflective dialogue between contemporary art and society.
“The Anarchists — The Illegal We Do Immediately, The Unconstitutional Takes a Little Longer”
Inspired by the famous Henry Kissinger quotation, this retrospective brings together works from some of the most acclaimed international and regional contemporary artists, including Miguel Calderón, Maria Thereza Alves & Jimmie Durham, Jakup Ferri, Dora Garcia, Manuela Garcia, Johan Grimonprez, Lia Perjovschi, Santiago Sierra, Bert Theis, Shingo Yoshida, and Fani Zguro. The program presents a bold reflection on art, politics, and forms of resistance through the lens of diverse artistic practices.
Together, these two programs position RetrospecTIFF as a space for critical dialogue and artistic sensibility — inviting audiences to engage with moving images in ways that challenge, provoke, and inspire.
