The Gap
End of the day, on a Swiss train. Yalini, a Tamil-Swiss woman, receives a call from her parents. The conversation becomes sensitive and tense, one of the passengers approaches her and expresses annoyance that she's speaking very loudly. Yalini faces two worlds that do not understand her.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Keerthigan Sivakumar
Born in 1988 in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. He arrived in Switzerland as a refugee in 2009. He graduated in Visual Communication in 2016 and completed his Bachelor in Cinema from ECAL (École cantonale d'art de Lausanne) in 2021. His graduation film DOOSRA (2022) received the Upcoming Talent award at the Solothurn Film Festival, the Audience Award for Best Graduation Film in Europe at the Premiers Plans d'Angers and was nominated for the Swiss Film Award for Best Graduation Film. His short fiction film, THE GAP (2024), won the Forum for Bilingualism Prize (Bienne), and the Bernese Prize of emerging talent. His first feature documentary project is currently in development.
