Swallows Will Leave
1991, Xiber-Hane, Albania. Landi is a 13-year-old boy who lives with his 8-year-old brother, Endri, and their father in a village atop the Albanian mountains. He assists his father with farm chores and teaches his younger brother to help with the family's daily tasks. Aware that he has no future in that land, Landi prepares to leave his homeland without his father's knowledge.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Deni Neli
Deni Neli, originally from Albania, was born in Italy,Piacenza in 2000. After graduating from high school, he studied directing in the Cinema course at NABA, Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti of Milan, while working as an operator. With a long-standing interest in his roots and in the history of his people, he explores his identity and the relationship between Italy and Albania. Drawing inspiration from his father’s stories and his childhood spent in Albania, he developed his first short film “Largohen Dallëndyshet” which tells the story of his family’s immigration in the 1990s.
