DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Andrea Gatopoulos
Andrea Gatopoulos is a film director and producer born in 1994 in Pescara. Graduated with honors in 2016 in Literature, Music and Entertainment with the thesis "Virtual reality and culture of the image in the culture of entertainment". He is the artistic director of Il Varco - Short Film Festival, twice in the Top 100 of the best festivals on FilmFreeway. He founded the Short Days review and the screening of Abruzzo films "Nuovo Cinema Abruzzese". His productions have been presented in more than 120 festivals including Venice Critics' Week SIC @ SIC, Camerimage, Rotterdam IFFR, In the Palace, Drama, Cyprus, Alice nella città, Nastri d'Argento and David di Donatello. As a director, he shot "Materia Celeste" in 2019, presented at the 42nd Drama festival and the 9th Cyprus Film Festival, both EFA Qualifying and "Polepole" in 2021, presented at the Oscar Qualifying Energa Camerimage festival and Visioni Italiane.
