Shame and Money

A couple in their 40s live with their extended family in rural Kosovo making a modest living on their farm. Following a familial dispute, their livelihood is lost. They are forced to move to Pristina where the pressure to provide for their family weighs heavily on the parents as they do their best to find work and a place to stay. A journey into a hyper-capitalist society begins.

DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Visar Morina

Visar Morina is a Kosovar director and screenwriter, born in Pristina in 1979 and based in Cologne, Germany. He moved to Germany at the age of 15. After working on various film and theatre projects, including as an assistant director at the Volksbühne Berlin, he studied directing and screenwriting at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, graduating in 2010. His short films, including Death by Suffocation and Of Dogs and Wallpaper, have been screened and awarded at international film festivals. His feature-film debut, Babai (2015), premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, where Morina received the Best Director Award. The film was also selected as Kosovo’s submission for the Academy Awards. His second feature, Exile (2020), premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition. In 2018, the screenplay for Exile received the German Screenplay Award. In 2026, Morina presented his third feature film, Shame and Money, further establishing his distinctive voice in contemporary European cinema.
