An immersion into memories where absence of a person takes hold. Through the diaries left behind by the filmmaker's mother 20 years ago, Reading You is an attempt to reconcile with the decisions made in the past.

DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Angeline Teh
A journalism graduate, Angeline Teh is a Malaysian creative documentary filmmaker currently based in Paris, France. Her experience as a radio producer at BFM89.9 ignited her interest in unfolding stories of the ordinary in a subtle way and yet visually and aurally vivid. Her films engage with intimate portraits that capture the simple while powerful stories from everyday life. Her first documentary short, Reading You premiered and competed for Southeast Asian Short Film Competition at Singapore International Film Festival (2023). She continues developing the story into a feature, that explores the intergenerational trauma within her family history through her mother’s diaries and letters. In 2021, she received a full scholarship and graduated with Magna cum Laude in 2023 from DocNomads Joint Masters Degree programme in Europe.
