DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Antonio La Camera

Antonio La Camera (1990), after graduating with honors in Film and Visual Arts from Roma Tre University, attended directing and screenwriting courses at the Sentieri Selvaggi film school. He was later admitted to the “Fare Cinema” High Specialization Course in Film Directing, directed by Marco Bellocchio and led by the Manetti Bros. His short films have been screened at over 170 national and international festivals, winning more than 45 awards worldwide. In 2022, he was admitted to the exclusive CreatorsLab, where he filmed the Italian-Spanish short film “Las Memorias Perdidas de los Árboles” in the Peruvian Amazon rainforest under the supervision of legendary director Apichatpong Weerasethakul (Palme d’Or winner at the Cannes Film Festival). The short film had its world premiere at the 80th Venice International Film Festival (2023) within the 38th International Critics’ Week, where it won the Best Short Film Award. Subsequently, the short film was presented at prestigious Oscar, EFA, and Goya qualifying festivals, such as the 63rd Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival (FICCI), the 47th Drama International Short Film Festival, the 22nd Tirana International Film Festival, the 29th Vilnius International Film Festival Kino Pavasaris, and the 35th São Paulo International Short Film Festival – Curta Kinoforum, and was preselected for the 2025 Goya Awards. In 2025, he was selected for the Locarno Spring Academy, where he directed the short film “Le Mur du Son” under the guidance of Caroline Poggi and Jonathan Vinel (Berlin Film Festival winners); the film premiered at the 78th Locarno Film Festival. In the same year, he directed the short documentary “Le Geometrie del Vuoto” for the Schiattarella Associati architecture firm. Filmed between Italy and Saudi Arabia, the documentary was screened as part of an exhibition dedicated to the firm at the 19th Venice Architecture Biennale. In 2026, his short film “Primo Sangue” (winner of production grants from the Ministry of Culture and the Calabria Film Commission Foundation) was presented at the 74th Trento Film Festival. He is currently working on his feature film project “Demoni & Polvere”, developed in the InProgress 2024 lab by Milano Film Network under the guidance of Michelangelo Frammartino (Jury Prize winner at the 2021 Venice Film Festival) and selected for the Unbox section of the 2025 MIA Market. At the same time, he is co-writing the Italian-Filipino feature film “I Have to Fuck Before the World Ends” by Andrea Benjamin Manenti, winner of the 2025 MIA Development Award for Outstanding Film Project and the Asian Gen-Z Award Special Mention at the 2025 Tokyo Gap-Financing Market in Japan.
