Overview

Passing Time

Following the collapse of the communist regime in the 1990s, almost half of the population had left Albania by 2010. Today, especially young people are emigrating. Like so many young people. Until then, it's a matter of waiting.

DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Eve Pfeilschifter, Elena Bengl

Elena Bengl and Eve Pfeilschifter have been collaborating for over a decade since they first met while studying journalism. Together, they have created several fictional short films as well as commissioned video content. Elena complemented her diploma in journalism with a bachelor’s degree in Economics. She currently works as a video production manager specialising in educational media. Eve followed her diploma in journalism with a master’s degree in film studies and is currently pursuing a PhD focusing on the interventionist potential of climate crisis cinema. Në Pritje – Passing Time marks the feature film debut of both directors. In addition to co-directing, they also took on the roles of producers, editors, and – in Eve’s case – director of photography, resulting in a deeply collaborative and truly independent production. This approach is not only central to the making of the film but is also made visible and reflected within the film itself.
