DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Andrejs Brīvulis

Andrejs Brīvulis (2001) is a bachelor’s graduate from the Art Academy of Latvia, currently studying for his master’s. His animation study work “Cleanliness” (2025) was nominated at various international festivals, including Animafest Zagreb, Annecy and PÖFF Shorts in 2025. His next animated film, bachelor’s graduation work “Lines of Riga”, tells a story of his home city, inspired by his personal experiences. Andrejs Brīvulis works in various media, including photography, video, 3D modeling, digital painting and animation. His themes range from urban visions and nostalgia to the complex inner lives of seemingly ordinary people, seen through the eyes of a sympathetic, unobtrusive observer. His works are characterized by clean and precise lines and expressive colors, ranging from experimental to hyperrealistic styles.
