DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Alexandre Athané

Alexandre Athané has worked in Paris, New York and London, mainly, as a director, illustrator and animator. In 2007, he directs his first short film, ZOE MELODY, in traditional animation (more than 10,000 drawings by hand), with Marco Prince at “the musical baton” and the support from Canal+. In 2015, he signs his second short film A SPACE IN TIME that he creates, draws, animates and puts into color by hand, frame by frame, starring the voice of Pierre Richard, original music by Alex Beaupain and the support from Gulli. The film goes around the world and collects numerous international awards (Iran, Usa, UK, Ukraine, South Africa, Alaska, Spain, Greece, Russia, France...) In 2024 his third short film, JUS D’ORANGE, is released : an animated film, with the voice of José Garcia, produced by NOLITA CINEMA and France Télévision. The film wins the Spirit Award Animation at the Brooklyn Film Festival, the Audience Award at the CPLTQC festival at the 5Caumartin cinema, and the Prize for Best Screenplay at the Filmmakers’ Evening at the Grand Rex in Paris. With his company THE SINGING PLANT COMPANY, he creates visual effects and film titles: MIGNONNES by Maïmouna Doucouré, MAX by Stéphanie Murat, JALOUSE by David & Stéphane Foenkinos, LIFE OF RILEY by Alain Resnais, JACK MIMOUN by Malik Bentalha... His illustrations are published in magazines (Nova, Quo, Mixer, Max, Mixmag, Pride, The Hollywood Reporter…),used for cinema (AMISTAD by Steven Spielberg, FINDING FORESTER by Gus Van Sant, GOSED), record companies (Sony Music, Rhino Records...), on store fronts (Metaluna Store in Paris)... Alexandre is currently working on the script for his next film…
