At the end of the Second World War around 25,000 Italians remained stranded in Albania. Most will be repatriated, but thousands will remain. At the fall of the communist regime, after forty years of living in the dream of his father and of Italy, Pierino knows freedom and goes to Italy.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Saverio La Ruina
Saverio La Ruina, author, actor and theater director, has won five Ubu Awards (the most prestigious Italian theater award): two for best actor and three for best Italian text. His texts have been performed by foreign companies in Belgium, France, Spain, USA and Venezuela. He has taken his performances to the most important Italian festivals and many European festivals, including the "Mess" in Sarayevo and the "Solo Festival" in Moscow. He also obtained the Ruccello Prize, the Hystrio Prize and the Lo Straniero Prize from the magazine directed by Goffredo Fofi. “Italianesi”, his first film, is inspired by his play of the same name with which he received the 2012 Ubu Award as best actor and a nomination for best Italian text.
