On a Sunday at Lake Fulensee, two people go diving together, communicating without words. As they descend into the darkness, however, the dive becomes a journey into their inner depths. At thirty metres below the surface, fears and buried stories emerge—things for which there are no signs in the language of diving.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Christina Benz
Christina Benz is a Swiss visual artist, filmmaker, animator, and screenwriter, born in Zurich in 1972. She studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martins College in London, graduating in 2004, and later completed a Master of Arts at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) in 2010. Her artistic practice focuses on the moving image, with video works and installations presented internationally in galleries, art fairs, and film festivals. Benz’s work explores cultural and social aspects of contemporary life, combining drawing, poetry, music, and animation. In recent years, she has developed a distinctive approach to sand animation, creating films through drawings made with black sand and animated using stop-motion techniques. Her short films include Fulesee (2020), G (2021), Berta, hingegen Jonas, aber Frau Wohlgemut (2021), and Keep on Spinning (2026). Her film Fulesee was created in collaboration with writer Patric Marino and musician Oli Kuster, bringing together visual art, literature, and music in an experimental animated form.
