DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Lam Can-Zhao

Lam Can-zhao is a Chinese filmmaker born in 1994. He made his feature debut at the age of 20 with The Dog, a low-budget independent film that brought him early attention. In 2023, he produced, wrote, and edited the short film A Bright Sunny Day, selected for La Cinef at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. In 2024, his short film A Summer's End Poem - which he wrote, directed, produced, and edited-won Best Short Film at the 74th Berlinale Generation Kplus Competition and qualified for the 98th Academy Awards for Best Live Action Short Film. To date, his films have screened at hundreds of international film festivals, including the Shanghai International Film Festival, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Moscow International Film Festival, Visions du Reel, Hawaii International Film Festival, Jeonju International Film Festival, Valencia International Film Festival, and Sarajevo Film Festival, among others.
