DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Chris de Krijger
Chris de Krijger (1987) is an award-winning Rotterdam-based filmmaker and creative producer. After studying at AKV St. Joost in Breda, he settled in Rotterdam, where he developed his work as a writer and director of fiction, music videos, and video installations. His work explores social expectations, discomfort, and the absurdity of everyday life, often through eccentric individuals, unexpected situations, and poetic observations. His short film Little Problems received international recognition, with selections at festivals including Raindance, IFFR, Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia and Odense. The video installation En Passant premiered at IFFR in 2025 and was screened at numerous festivals. His earlier short Heavenly Gate premiered at Short of the Week. His film Life Skills became a worldwide online success, reaching over 28 million views on YouTube. In 2020, he founded the foundation There Will Be Film (TWBF), through which he produces his own projects, including the films Indisch Zwijgen and Tussen Wal en Schip. TWBF also supports other filmmakers, such as the documentary Papa Terrible, which premiered at NFF 2025.
