DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Péter Vácz

Péter Vácz is an award-winning animation director from Budapest, Hungary, born in 1988. He graduated from MOME Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Animation with his films Streamschool and Rabbit and Deer which have earned him worldwide recognition and over 125 awards at international festivals (Annecy, Cannes, Nashville, Atlanta, Anima Mundi...) During his studies he attended ASF The European Animation Production Workshop in 2009 and he took the Professional 3D Character Animation Course in Viborg, Denmark. After his studies Péter co-founded the one-year avant-garde film group Caravel Collective in France where he made experimental films then moved to Berlin and worked as a freelancer there for a year. Since 2013 Péter has been represented by the London based Picasso Pictures production company where he made two award-winning music videos – All I'm Saying and Dear John – for the renowned British rock band James. Since 2015 he has been based back in Budapest. His debut live-action short film ‘Pillowface’ had its international premier at the prestigious Warsaw Film Festival in 2018. In the past years Péter has been developing two personal short films called Noah's Tree and Dog-Ear. Besides his professional work he is also a passionate teacher and is now the artistic director of the Illyés ANIM two-year animation course and he gives workshops and masterclasses internationally.
