DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Petar Vukičević
Petar Vukićević is a Croatian filmmaker and screenwriter from Split. He studied Film and Television Directing at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb and has developed his work through both fiction and documentary filmmaking. His films explore human relationships, masculinity, family dynamics, and the transition from youth into adulthood. His short fiction film Karst (Krš, 2026) marks his first professional fiction film. Set in the rural landscape of Dalmatinska Zagora, the film follows a young man in his late twenties who returns to his father in the countryside in an attempt to heal a broken heart. In confronting his father and the environment he left behind, he begins to recognize aspects of himself that mirror the very patterns he has tried to escape. Vukićević’s filmmaking is grounded in an intimate understanding of place and character, with a particular interest in male identity and intergenerational relationships. His work combines a strong sense of local atmosphere with emotionally complex and understated storytelling.
