DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Caco Tavaris
Caco Tavaris is a Brazilian transmasculine artist and filmmaker from Minas Gerais. He began his career as an actor before moving into filmmaking in 2019. His artistic practice is marked by theatricality, playfulness, political activism, experimentation, and the use of surreal and symbolic elements. Since entering filmmaking, Tavaris has worked across more than 30 audiovisual projects in different capacities. His work often explores identity, the body, memory, and social relationships through experimental and visually inventive forms. His 2025 video art work Hippo Campus reflects his interest in combining movement, imagery, and symbolic storytelling, creating a cinematic space where reality and imagination intersect. Tavaris continues to develop a distinctive audiovisual language that brings together performance, experimentation, and political expression.
