DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Reuben Hamlyn

​Reuben Hamlyn is an Emmy & BIFA-nominated NYC-based writer/director & editor from London. His feature debut, Another Body (2023) premiered at SXSW and was awarded the Special Jury Prize. Supported by Impact Partners, the International Documentary Association's Enterprise Grant, and Sundance's Catalyst Lab, the film was released in the US (Utopia, WILLA), UK (Modern Films, BBC Storyville), in France & Germany (Arte) and in other territories, before receiving an Emmy nomination in ‘Best Directing-Documentary’ and two British Independent Film Award nominations. Reuben's short fiction film, Roger (2019), commissioned by the BFI and BBC Arts, aired on BBCFour, and won multiple awards. His narrative short, Bitter Weeds (2024) was shortlisted for the student Academy Award. His most recent narrative short, Sunday’s Children (2026), has been selected to premiere in the Cinef selection of Cannes Film Festival 2026. His debut narrative feature is in development, and was selected to participate in Torino ScriptLab 2026. As an editor, his work has premiered at Venice and San Sebastian film festivals. He is currently editing and producing the short documentary In The Silence After which was selected for the Focus WiP showcase at Cannes 2026. Reuben is a graduate of NYU’s Grad Film programme, having been awarded a TSOA Scholarship and a W.T.C Johnson Fellowship.
