What does it take to bring a complex story from the page to the screen?

On 22 September, TIFF 2026 welcomes acclaimed Macedonian producer and actress Labina Mitevska for a case study on Mother, the latest film by her sister, director Teona Strugar Mitevska.

Labina is the managing director and producer at Sisters and Brother Mitevski Production, the family-run company she founded with Teona and Vuk Mitevski in 2001. She has also built an acclaimed acting career, beginning with Before the Rain, and was awarded the Eurimages International Co-production Award in 2024 for her contribution to European film production and international collaboration.

The case study will look behind Mother, from developing and financing an ambitious international co-production to working across countries, partners, and creative teams to bring a film to the screen. Mother is produced by Labina Mitevska and was selected for the 2026 European Film Awards Feature Film Selection.
