DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Serene Shengqi ZHANG
Serene S. Zhang is a theatre and moving-image artist whose work navigates the intersections of gender, trauma, death, and memory through forms spanning performance, film, and animation. Her recent projects investigate silenced narratives and embodied histories, engaging themes such as colonial olfactory politics, funerary aesthetics, and theatricality. She is currently completing her MFA at Peking University and will join Harvard University as a visiting scholar in 2025.
