In 2018, an incel called Anathematic Anarchist posted a suicide letter on Reddit entitled "America is responsible for my death". The Mechanics of Fluids is an attempt to find answers to his words. A virtual drift through the internet in search of his digital traces that ends up being an inner journey between our connected solitudes.
DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Gala Hernández López
I am an artist filmmaker and researcher. I am a PhD Candidate in Aesthetics, Sciences and Technologies of Arts at Université Paris 8, ESTCA laboratory. My reflects on screen capture in post-internet film and art. I am currently a ATER/Assistant Professor in at the Université Gustave Eiffel, after having taught for 3 years at Université Paris 8. Filmuniversität Babelsberg Konrad WolfCasa de Velázquez I co-founded and co-direct the research and creation collective After Social Networks My work combines interdisciplinary research with the production of essay films, video installations and performances reflecting on the modes of subjectivation produced specifically by computational digital capitalism. I am particularly interested in studying, from a feminist and critical perspective, the discourses and imaginaries that circulate in virtual communities as symptomatic fictions of a state of the world. My film La Mécanique des fluides is the first of a series of films – that will be followed by currently in development, selected in Berlinale Short Form Station – both proposing a reflection on the processes of individuation in its articulation with algorithms and digital flows of data and capital.
