DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Sophie Martin
Sophie started acting as a child in the Brats Company, with roles in The Adams family and When Brats Imitate them. Later, she turned to writing and theatre direction with Cobblestones on Stage, an urban, social comedy which won the Press Award and the Best Hope Award at Avignon Festival 2008. A few years later, she decided to write for the cinema. In 2017, she directed Plugged In, a film about the illusions linked to dating apps, which won the Media Award at the Nikon Film Festival. In 2018, she directed Dunk, about a grief-stricken teenager who rebuilds a family thanks to basketball. It was selected at over 60 festivals, winning several awards, and received the Label Film 2019 from the Maison du Film.
