DIRECTOR BIOGRAPHY - Payam Razi

Payam Razi is an Iranian/American writer, director and radio music manager/moderator based in Prague, Czech Republic. Born in Tehran to a cinematographer father, he had the chance to learn the basics of filmmaking and music since childhood. With the growing passion for film, he directed his first short film at the age of 17 and started his career as assistant director in the Iranian film and TV industry while studying theater. He directed his second short film “Model” at the age of 19. With a great desire to travel, Payam left Iran to India at 22, hoping to explore and document the spiritual world through film. During his 3 years in India, he produced two documentary films that had been screened at various events in the country. Turning 25 was a decisive moment and Payam decided to continue to study and expand his knowledge of Cinema. From the greatest film schools around the world, Payam chose to study at FAMU, Film and television school in the heart of Europe, Prague. He successfully finished his studies at 2007 and directed another short “Parallel Circles” which was accepted as his application film and he participated in Barlinale Talent Campus the same year. An important and inspiring experience that encouraged him to pursue his dreams. Since then, Payam has been writing, directing and developing film projects along with working for Radio free Europe’s Persian service as the Music director. Currently, Payam has finished his yet biggest film project “Chapter Five” and is currently developing the script for his first feature film “Red Bear”..
