Loosely based on the erotic poem “Caurapañcāśikā” by Bilhana, which was written in prison upon discovery of the poet’s clandestine affair with Princess Yaminipurnatilaka. The verses were written while awaiting judgment, not knowing if he was to be executed or exiled—his fate is unknown.

Bruno Carnide (Leiria, 1987) is an independent film director and producer. He has directed fiction, animation and documentary short films that have won over forty awards and have been selected at hundreds of film festivals around the world, including Oscar qualifying festivals. From his filmography, the live action short film “Fled. Lay. Fell." (2017) stands out, which won 12 Awards and was selected for more than 40 film festivals, including the Festival de Cine de Huesca (Spain) and Festival de Cine de Lebu (Chile), both Oscar qualifiers. In 2019, he made his first animated short film “Equinox” (2019) and later “The Flight of the Manta Rays” (2021), both nominated for the Sophia Awards of the Portuguese Film Academy, and with selections in Portuguese festivals such as IndieLisboa. , Cinanima, Monstra, FEST, National Animation Award or Caminhos do Cinema Português. Throughout his journey, several interviews and film screenings on television stand out; prizes at festivals such as Medina del Campo (Spain), Cinema on the Bayou (USA), New Talents FNAC (Portugal), ShortCutz (Portugal), Manifest (Portugal) CinEuphoria (Portugal) or Ymotion (Portugal); as well as selections at InterFilm Berlin (Germany), St. Louis International Film Festival (USA), Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (Belgium) or Avanca (Portugal) and screening at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London (England). In 2013 founded Leiria Film Fest – International Short Film Festival, of which he is director and programmer. Since 2017, he has been a university professor in the field of cinema at the Polytechnic of Leiria and Instituto Superior Miguel Torga. In 2022, he was appointed cinema curator at the Museum of Moving Image in Leiria (Portugal). He is occasionally a jury member at international film festivals such as Tirana International Film Festival (Albania), a festival that qualifies for Oscars and European Awards, Festival de Cine Piélagos (Spain), São Tomé FestFilm (Saint Tomas and Prince), FEST – New Directors New Films Festival (Portugal), Ymotion (Portugal), Planos Film Fest (Portugal), among others.
